Establecer l\u00edmites respetuosos y apropiados es una habilidad social esencial para mantener relaciones sanas.  Aprender a hacerlo es un proceso que dura toda la vida, y empieza pronto en el desarrollo de los ni\u00f1os.  Cuando ense\u00f1amos habilidades de gracia y cortes\u00eda, es importante que los ni\u00f1os sepan c\u00f3mo <i>decir<\/i> no, respetuosamente, y c\u00f3mo <i>recibir un<\/i> no,<i> <\/i>respetuosamente.  Por supuesto, como Montessorianos, entendemos que tambi\u00e9n tenemos que modelar estas habilidades sociales.  Empecemos por ah\u00ed<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Decir no<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>A veces, la respuesta m\u00e1s adecuada es decir no, sin dar explicaciones.  Con demasiada frecuencia, los adultos se lanzan a largas explicaciones sobre por qu\u00e9 dicen que no. Esto, por supuesto, conduce a la negociaci\u00f3n y la manipulaci\u00f3n, cuando lo que se necesitan son l\u00edmites claros y apropiados. Tambi\u00e9n sirve de modelo para los ni\u00f1os de que, cuando dices que no, debes dar explicaciones.  Lo creas o no, los ni\u00f1os suelen ser m\u00e1s h\u00e1biles que los adultos para decir que no, respetuosamente y sin dar explicaciones.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Roger era profesor de Primaria.&nbsp;  Un d\u00eda, observ\u00f3 una conversaci\u00f3n entre dos de sus alumnas, Lauren y Allison.&nbsp;Lauren se acerc\u00f3 a Allison y le pregunt\u00f3, en tono almibarado, si pod\u00eda utilizar uno de los nuevos l\u00e1pices perfumados de Allison.&nbsp;Allison se limit\u00f3 a mirar a Lauren y le dijo respetuosamente: \u201cNo\u201d.&nbsp;  Eso fue todo, luego silencio.&nbsp;  Lauren parec\u00eda desconcertada.&nbsp;  Parec\u00eda estar esperando la explicaci\u00f3n de Allison, pero Allison no dijo ni una palabra.&nbsp;Al cabo de unos instantes, Lauren se encogi\u00f3 de hombros y volvi\u00f3 a su trabajo.&nbsp;  Roger aprendi\u00f3 una valiosa lecci\u00f3n de Allison aquel d\u00eda.&nbsp;  No pasa nada por decir que no sin dar explicaciones.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;Decir no, respetuosamente, sin dar explicaciones, es una habilidad vital fundamental.&nbsp;En Montessori ense\u00f1amos a los ni\u00f1os peque\u00f1os que se les permite decir no, respetuosamente, a los dem\u00e1s.&nbsp;  Cuando un ni\u00f1o pide utilizar un material que est\u00e1 utilizando otro ni\u00f1o, el ni\u00f1o que utiliza el material puede decir que no.&nbsp;  No obligamos a los ni\u00f1os a compartir.&nbsp;  Esto ser\u00eda una falta de respeto.&nbsp;  Ense\u00f1ar a los ni\u00f1os a decir no, respetuosamente y sin dar explicaciones, les ayuda a desarrollar la capacidad de establecer l\u00edmites claros y apropiados.&nbsp;  Las relaciones sanas dependen de unos l\u00edmites sanos.&nbsp;M\u00e1s adelante, esos mismos ni\u00f1os ser\u00e1n adolescentes y tendr\u00e1n que decir no a peticiones que podr\u00edan tener consecuencias importantes.&nbsp;  No es una frase completa, pero aprender a decir no requiere pr\u00e1ctica.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;La otra habilidad social y vital importante que se ense\u00f1a cuando decimos no, respetuosamente, sin dar explicaciones, es c\u00f3mo recibir un no.&nbsp;  Roger no fue el \u00fanico que aprendi\u00f3 una lecci\u00f3n de Allison cuando dijo que no, sin dar explicaciones.&nbsp;  Lauren aprendi\u00f3 a recibir un no, respetuosamente; a aceptar l\u00edmites claros y apropiados de otra persona.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Decir s\u00ed<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>Aunque decir no, respetuosamente, es una forma eficaz de poner l\u00edmites, tambi\u00e9n es f\u00e1cil caer en la trampa de decir no demasiado.&nbsp;  Puede convertirse en nuestra respuesta habitual.&nbsp;  \u00a1A veces tenemos que centrarnos en decir s\u00ed siempre que podamos!&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Linda y Liz estaban pasando un a\u00f1o dif\u00edcil.&nbsp;  Esto nos pasa a todos.&nbsp;  Empezaron a sentir que lo \u00fanico que dec\u00edan era: \u201c\u00a1No!\u201d.&nbsp;  Se hab\u00eda convertido en una respuesta habitual, y se encontraban diciendo que no, incluso cuando no era necesario.&nbsp;  Linda sent\u00eda que el ambiente en el aula era \u201cpesado\u201d y que su relaci\u00f3n con los ni\u00f1os carec\u00eda de confianza.&nbsp;  Decidieron que durante las siguientes semanas buscar\u00edan oportunidades para decir s\u00ed siempre que fuera posible.&nbsp;  Liz peg\u00f3 una tarjeta en el armario del profesor con la palabra \u201cS\u00ed\u201d escrita en ella.&nbsp;  Cada vez que un ni\u00f1o ped\u00eda algo, Linda y Liz se tomaban un momento para considerar intencionadamente si pod\u00edan decir que s\u00ed.&nbsp;  Cuando empezaron a decir m\u00e1s que s\u00ed, se not\u00f3 que confiaban m\u00e1s en los ni\u00f1os.&nbsp;  El ambiente en el aula parec\u00eda m\u00e1s ligero y relajado.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Aunque la clase segu\u00eda siendo un reto, el grupo empez\u00f3 a progresar.&nbsp;  Los ni\u00f1os estaban m\u00e1s contentos y cooperaban m\u00e1s.&nbsp;  Liz y Linda volv\u00edan a casa cada d\u00eda sinti\u00e9ndose mejor consigo mismas y con los ni\u00f1os.
