Event Description
The Practitioner’s Class

Class Begins June 15
The 8-week Practitioner’s Class – Level 1 is based on Positive Discipline in the Montessori Classroom by Jane Nelsen and Chip DeLorenzo. This comprehensive Montessori teacher training uses a child-study approach to help participants implement respectful, effective, and time-tested classroom management practices that reflect core Montessori values: mutual respect, cooperation, responsibility, empathy, and independence.
As a complete and foundational course within the PDMC training pathway, the Practitioner’s Class provides educators with the essential principles, tools, and structures needed to practice Positive Discipline with confidence and consistency in their classrooms. For those who wish to continue their professional growth, the Advanced Practitioner’s Class (Level 2) offers an opportunity to further refine and deepen this work.
Using real classroom situations, both new and experienced educators and administrators will learn how to:
- Create a classroom community and social-emotional environment that reduces misbehavior and supports normalization
- Develop student support plans for children with behavioral challenges
- Establish clear, consistent adult practices to respond to behavior respectfully and effectively
- Understand the roots of misbehavior in children
- Foster responsibility, cooperation, and respect within the classroom community
- Help children develop a sense of belonging and significance
- Effectively guide and train classroom assistants
- Contribute to school-wide practices that support both teachers and parents
Facilitated by Chip DeLorenzo
