Learning Platform

The learning platform is the online classroom and is accessed by logging onto the website  www.pdmc-montessori.org.  Each week, on Wednesday, I will post a video recording of the Monday evening session.   Be sure to print out a copy of the workbook, as you will be taking notes and recording observations in the workbook throughout the class.  Handouts may also be posted from week to week on the platform, as appropriate, as well as the homework to be completed after each session.

Group Chat Platform

We will be using the WhatsApp application to communicate with each other throughout the course.  This is where you will be sharing reflections, classroom observations, experiences using the tools, or questions that you have throughout the week.  WhatsApp can be accessed through the WhatsApp app on your phone or tablet, or through your browser.  It is a simple and secure application.  You will need to create an account through the app or through your web browser, and then join our group.

Here is a QR code to join our group:

Preparation for the First Session

Please download and print the workbook in session one under the heading Supporting Documents.  You will also find a PDF copy of our book, Positive Discipline in the Montessori Classroom.  Please read the Introduction through Chapter 2 and watch the video in Session 1 in preparation for our first session.   You will also find two videos on these chapters in Session 1 on the lerning platform.

Homework During the Course

After each session, you will have a short reading assignment, as well as some activities for you to do with your students (observations, practice with tools, etc.).  Homework assignments are very manageable and will be posted in each session on this learning platform.   Reflections, questions, experiences, and observations will be shared throughout the week on the GroupMe application.

Here’s a revised version that is a bit warmer, clearer, and more professional while still setting firm expectations:

Attendance and Participation

This course is highly interactive and experiential. Much of the learning takes place through discussion, reflection, activities, and collaboration with other participants. For this reason, we strongly encourage participants to attend each session live whenever possible.

If you are unable to attend a session, a recording will be posted within 48 hours so that you can stay current with the course content. Because participation is an important part of the learning experience, we also ask that participants keep their cameras on during class whenever possible. Breakout rooms and small-group discussions will be used throughout the course.

To receive credit for course completion, participants must attend at least six live sessions. Any missed sessions may be made up by viewing the corresponding recordings.

Certificate of Completion

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion documenting 16 contact hours.

To qualify for a certificate, participants must:

  • Attend a minimum of six live sessions

  • View recordings of any missed sessions

  • Complete all course requirements and the final course evaluation

If you anticipate missing more than two live sessions, please contact Chip as soon as possible so that an alternative completion plan can be discussed.

The course evaluation will be distributed following the final session of the course.

I look forward to working with you!  Please let us know if you have any questions!  Feel free to email me at:  chip@chipdelorenzo.com

Warm regards,

Chip DeLorenzo
